Parent Organization: Office of Campus Activities
History of CUA Program Board
Program Board's origins come from the hard work and dedication of Martha Comiskey. As a student at Catholic University in the early 1960s, Martha created the Fine Arts Council, which later became the USG Program Board. As the Board began to grow, it split from the Undergraduate Student Government to form its own separate organization known as Program Board.
Today, under the reconstruction of student representation at CUA, Program Board stands alone as its own organization. However, the relationship between the Student Association and Program Board is one of collaboration where both groups work together to ensure the fulfillment of student needs and desires.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Program Board?
CUA Program Board, located in the Pryzbyla Center, is the premiere event programming organization of The Catholic University of America. We represent a diverse group of students who are involved in many areas of campus with unique interests.
Program Board is made up of 28 students which breaks down to an Executive Board and Assistants; within the 28 members there is a Programming Branch and Marketing Branch which work together to plan, market, and execute our events throughout the year.
The student activity fee allows Program Board to plan a variety of events! These events include concerts, speakers, comedians, movies, local talent, traditional events, and various other activities. Our traditional events include Mr. CUA, Late Night Breakfast, Fall Fiesta, and Mistletoe Ball! Whether bringing to campus a concert or a remarkable entertainer, Program Board lets students get directly involved with a wide range of performers and social events!
How do I get involved?
The main way to get involved is to attend our events! Program Board as a whole programs a variety of events every year for undergraduate students. To know more about upcoming events, giveaways and exclusive content:read our weekly CUA Happenings emails, like us on Facebook (Catholic University Program Board!), follow us on Instagram (Programboard.CUA), Twitter (ProgramboardCUA) and Snapchat (ProgramBoardCUA). Finally, check out the "events" tab of our Nest page to see all of our upcoming events!
How do I join Program Board?
All of the positions on Program Board last one year. At the end of the spring semester, an election is held to elect the President and Street Team members for the upcoming year. From there, the President will open applications, email the student body, and fill the remainder of the positions on the board through an application and interview process. So make sure to look out for the opening of applications each spring!
How is Program Board funded?
Program Board is receives all of its funds from the Student Activity Fee that every undergraduate student (you!) pays each semester. Since students are funding our events, we want to ensure we bring you what you want. We highly encourage all students to reach out to us with your feedback and suggestions!
