Bob Levine is Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park. His books include The Lives of Frederick Douglass; Conspiracy and Romance: Studies in Brockden Brown, Cooper, Hawthorne, and Melville; Martin Delany, Frederick Douglass, and the Politics of Representative Identity, and Dislocating Race and Nation. He is the Executive Editor of the Norton Anthology of American Literature.
